Update: $250,000 Deposit Insurance Limits Extended to 2013
On October 3, 2008, National Credit Union Adminstration federal share insurance was temporarily increased from at least $100,000 to at least $250,000 through December 31, 2009. The Helping Families Save Their Homes Act of 2009, signed into law May 20, 2009, includes a provision extending $250,000 share insurance coverage provided by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund through December 31, 2013. Visit the NCUA web site for more details. Use the NCUA Share Insurance Estimator to estimate your coverage and see how you may be able to increase it.
